Pakistan continues to make global waves in the world of art and culture, as three talented local artists were nominated for the prestigious Aga Khan Music Awards. One of the world’s last living masters of Khayal, Ustad Saami, belongs to the historic Delhi Gharana. His mastery in classical South Asian music has not only preserved centuries-old traditions but also introduced a new generation to the spiritual depth of Khayal singing. A true torchbearer of Sufi music, Juman Latif has been singing Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s songs for more than three decades. From teaching students at local schools to performing at shrines and international festivals, Latif has become a symbol of peace. Representing Balochistan’s rich musical legacy, Ustad Noor Bakhsh gained international fame in 2022 for his mesmerising Benju performances. His compositions blend traditional Balochi melodies with modern experimentation.
