The Ugandan government has hailed efforts initiated by Aga Khan and Makerere universities to improve the lives of women and children in the East African region to achieve the sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). In a meeting of health experts held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, to seek ways of improving lives of mothers and children, the health minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng commended both Aga Khan and Makerere universities for organizing the symposium. The founding Director of the Aga Khan University’s Center of Excellence in Women and Child Health (CoE WCH) Professor Zulfiqar Bhutta, underscored the importance of developing indicators that would help track progress in achieving the SDGs.
