Significant progress has been made in modernising health facilities in the remote area of Upper Chitral, Aweer. A 10 kW solar system and a 5 kWh power backup system have been officially inaugurated at the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Aweer under the 'RENEW' project organised by the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHSP). This project, funded by Global Affairs Canada and the Aga Khan Foundation, aims to maintain the continuity of health services despite severe weather conditions and power shortages in remote areas. In addition, the Aga Khan Health Services has also provided the health centre with modern portable medical equipment, including an oxygen concentrator, portable ECG machine, wheelchair, and glucometer with strips.
