Zanzibar’s Ministry of Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) to collaborate in the fight against cancer in Zanzibar. Speaking yesterday after the signing ceremony, Zanzibar's Minister of Health, Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, announced that the project will run for four years in collaboration with Kenya and mainland Tanzania. He explained that the agreement is part of France’s broader efforts to support cancer control projects across East Africa, including Kenya and Tanzania. “Through this project, Zanzibar will benefit, including receiving a cancer treatment vehicle for screening citizens in different villages in Unguja and Pemba, as well as providing training for health workers and community service providers,” Mazrui said.
