Paris, France, 18 January 2009 - His Highness the Aga Khan on Sunday hosted a lunch in Paris for Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, George Yeo. During the lunch, the Aga Khan announced his decision to establish an Ismaili Centre and regional representative office of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Singapore.
Minister Yeo warmly welcomed this decision and assured the Aga Khan of Singapore's support for this initiative. Minister Yeo and His Highness also discussed ways to strengthen mutually beneficial collaboration between Singapore and the AKDN.
The Aga Khan took the opportunity to thank Singapore for its contribution to the Dental Team of the Bamyan Provincial Hospital in Afghanistan, which is funded by the AKDN.
The lunch was a follow-up to the Aga Khan’s visit in Singapore last December as part of his Golden Jubilee celebrations.
