The signing of this Protocol was unanimously agreed upon by all ministers in the government. It also takes place as São Tomé and Príncipe holds the rotating Presidency of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, further reinforcing the country’s role in fostering international cooperation. A similar protocol was signed in October 2024 between the Ismaili Imamat and the Government of Timor-Leste, another Portuguese-speaking country.
