AKDN / Natalie Gagne
In all of AKDN’s education activities, parents are regarded as the first, and most important, teachers. Mini-libraries at AKDN institutions provide them with storybooks to read with their young children. In some places, the Reading for Children Programme links parents to adult literacy classes or story reading workshops supported by the Network. Seeing their parents interact with their teachers provides children an important sense of security and connection between home and school.
“... I have come to the conclusion that there is no greater form of preparation for change than education. I also think that there is no better investment that the individual, parents and the nation can make than an investment in education of the highest possible quality.” His Highness the Aga Khan speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Aga Khan School, Osh, Kyrgyz Republic - 30 October 2002.
