In all of AKDN’s education activities, parents are regarded as the first, and most important, teachers. Mini-libraries at AKDN institutions provide them with storybooks to read with their young children. In some places, the Reading for Children Programme links parents to adult literacy classes or story reading workshops supported by the Network. Seeing their parents interact with their teachers provides children an important sense of security and connection between home and school.
