In South Asia and East Africa, the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development works to improve educational systems. The Institute develops models of effective teaching, child-centred learning, and curriculum and school management. It then tests these models under real classroom conditions to assess their feasibility and effectiveness. More than 22,000 teachers and head teachers have completed training in the Institute's various programmes ranging from short certificate courses to doctoral degrees.
