The Aga Khan Academy in Maputo is the third in the network of Aga Khan Academies. It follows the highly successful model established by the first two Academies in Mombasa and Hyderabad.

Each Academy works in harmony with the governing bodies of its host country.

AKDN has established a formal relationship with the International Baccalaureate (IB) through a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations. The aim is for all Aga Khan Academies to be IB World Schools, closely linked to the network of IB institutions in over 125 countries. The Academies are approved workshop providers for both the IB and Cambridge International Education.

Connections with global institutions and networks enable the Academies to test and validate their standards of excellence, and allow for enhanced collaborative programming. These partnerships contribute to the quality of the curriculum and professional development programmes, and ensure that the Academies maintain and enhance their academic quality.
