“Today, the Aga Khan Development Network embraces many facets and functions. But, if I were trying to sum up in a single word its central objective, I would focus on the word “opportunity”. For what the peoples of the developing world seek above all else is hope for a better future.”

His Late Highness Aga Khan IV

Our Partners

AKDN welcomes institutions and individuals throughout the world as partners in the design, implementation and funding of innovative development projects. We also work closely with local, state and national governments in each country in which we are active. See our partners

Our Organisation

The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) works in over 30 countries around the world. We currently operate over 1,000 programmes and institutions − many of which date back over 60 years, and some over 100. See the awards our work has won.

We employ approximately 96,000 people, the majority of whom are based in developing countries. Our annual budget for non-profit development activities is approximately $1 billion. Our economic development arm, the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, reinvests all surpluses generated by its project companies into further development activities, usually in fragile, remote or post-conflict regions.
