For almost 50 years, AKDN agencies have enjoyed fruitful partnerships with the UK government, universities and numerous other institutions in the country and internationally. The Aga Khan Centre in King’s Cross, London, opened in 2018 to become the home of AKDN agencies in the UK. An active outreach programme has seen the Centre host numerous exhibitions and hundreds of public events.

Established in 1973, AKF UK forms strategic partnerships with governments, multilateral organisations, corporations, trusts and foundations; mobilises resources for AKDN development initiatives; and raises awareness about issues in global development. With the support of our institutional partners, and through the generosity of the Ismaili community and other individuals, AKF UK has raised hundreds of millions of pounds to help improve the quality of life for millions of people around the world.

AKU-ISMC’s students come from over 20 countries
AKU-ISMC focuses on research, publications, graduate studies and outreach. It produces high-quality research and teaching, engaging locally and internationally on questions and debates regarding the historic and contemporary affairs of Muslim cultures and societies. The Institute offers a Master’s in Muslim Cultures, which is also offered as part of a dual degree with Columbia University; a wide range of short courses which are open to the public; and a rich programme of outreach activities.

The building is the home to three organisations founded by His Highness Aga Khan: the Aga Khan Foundation UK, the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations and the Institute of Ismaili Studies.
