In the southeast of Tajikistan, where the majestic Pamir Mountains reach heights only slightly lower than those of the Himalayas, local traditions of devotional song, mystical music, and dance have flourished among mountain-dwelling Pamiri people, many of whom are Shia Isma’ili Muslims. Artists of the Ensemble present their cultural practices that, together with Badakhshan’s rugged geography, nourished the preservation of traditional culture. Concert programme showcases devotional songs, mystical music, and dance traditions of the Pamir.
