Kwame Anthony Akroma-Ampim Kusi Appiah, an Anglo-Ghanaian American philosopher, is a cultural theorist and novelist whose interests include political and moral theory, the philosophy of language and mind, literary studies, and African and African-American intellectual history. He teaches at New York University&rsquo;s department of philosophy and school of law, but has also taught at Yale, Cornell, Duke, Harvard and Princeton universities, and lectured at other prominent universities throughout the world.He has written widely on philosophy of mind and language, ethics and political philosophy, the philosophy of art, culture, the social sciences and literary studies. His current research focuses on questions about the connection between theory and practice in moral life. From 2008 to 2011, he was Chairman of the Board of the American Philosophical Association; in 2009 to 2012, he was President of the PEN American Center; and in 2016 he was President of the Modern Language Association.

He is the author of three novels and more than a dozen works of philosophy, including the prize- winning In&nbsp;My Father&rsquo;s House: Africa in the Philosophy of Culture. His recent publications include&nbsp;Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers, The Honor Code: How Moral Revolutions Happen&nbsp;and&nbsp;Lines of Descent: W. E. B. Du Bois and the Emergence of Identity. His three novels are entitled&nbsp;Avenging Angel, Nobody Likes Letitia, Another Death in Venice. Most recently, he published&nbsp;The Lies That Bind: Rethinking Identity.&nbsp;Since 2015, he has written&nbsp;The Ethicist&nbsp;column for the&nbsp;New York Times. He has also chaired the juries for the Berggruen Prize in Philosophy and the Man-Booker Prize for Fiction.

Professor Appiah was educated at schools in Ghana and England, and trained at Clare College, Cambridge University, where he received a doctorate in philosophy.

Ms Batayneh got her degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. Over her long and distinguished career, Ms Batayneh has led multidisciplinary teams on large-scale international and regional projects in the USA, Pakistan, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE. In addition to her passion for applying creativity, design and innovation to enhance the built environment, she is actively engaged in social initiatives through national and international commissions and boards.
 Ms Batayneh was selected as a member of the Amman Commission, which was entrusted with developing the greater Amman Masterplan. She is a founding member of the Jordan Green Building Council and the Middle East Leadership Association. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence. She was the first president of Jordan&rsquo;s Business and Professional Women&rsquo;s Association and served as a jury member on the Women in Business Cartier Awards. She was recognised as the Leading Arab Woman Architect by the Federation of Arab Architects and Engineers.
 maisam&rsquo;s work has won numerous global awards, including the&nbsp;ArchitzerA+ Popular Choice Award&nbsp;in 2015,&nbsp;LEAF Award&nbsp;in 2014 (for &ldquo;A Gateway to Petra&rdquo;) and multiple&nbsp;Arabian Property Awards. maisam&rsquo;s work was also shortlisted for the World Architectural Festival (WAF) for the &ldquo;Aqaba Bus Terminal&rdquo; in 2009, &ldquo;A Gateway to Petra&rdquo; in 2012 and the &ldquo;Petra Museum&rdquo; in 2015. maisam won the World Architecture Festival&rsquo;s Future Projects for &ldquo;School in a Park&rdquo; in 2019.
 Ms Batayneh joined the Board of the LafargeHolcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction in January 2020. She served as a member of the regional jury for Middle East Africa and is a Jury member of the Global LafargeHolcim Awards.
 Ms Batayneh served on the Master Jury for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019 and was a member of the 2022 Award Steering Committee.

Sir David Chipperfield is a practising architect and founder of David Chipperfield Architects. He studied architecture at the Kingston School of Art and the Architectural Association in London. He established David Chipperfield Architects in 1985 after working for Douglas Stephen, Richard Rogers and Norman Foster. He later set up offices in Berlin, Shanghai and Milan. The practice has built over 100 projects for both the private and public sectors.

Among the practice&rsquo;s major completed works are the rebuilding of the Neues Museum in Berlin; an MBA building for the HEC Paris School of Management; the Museo Jumex in Mexico City; a redevelopment of the Royal Academy of Arts in London; the Amorepacific Headquarters in Seoul; and an extension building for the Kunsthaus Zurich.

David Chipperfield Architects has received numerous awards for design excellence, including the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2007 for &ldquo;The Museum of Modern Literature&rdquo; in Marbach, Germany, and both the Mies van der Rohe Award (European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture) and the Deutscher Architekturpreis in 2011 for the &ldquo;Neues Museum&rdquo; in Berlin.

David Chipperfield himself has received the RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture, Praemium Imperiale, the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal, the Wolf Foundation Prize in the Arts, and the Grand DAI Award for Building Culture. In 2010, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the UK, he was knighted for services to architecture in 2010 and appointed a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour in 2021. David curated the 13th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2012; served as 2016-2017 Mentor for Architecture for the Rolex Mentor and Prot&eacute;g&eacute; Arts Initiative; and was the 2020 Guest Editor of the architecture and design magazine Domus. In 2017, he founded Fundaci&oacute;n RIA, a private, non-profit entity, to research and support sustainable development in Galicia, Spain. David served on the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Master Jury in 2019.

Elizabeth Diller is a founding partner of Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), a design studio whose practice spans the fields of architecture, urban design, installation art, multi-media performance, digital media, and print. The studio is responsible for the transformation of the High Line in New York &ndash; once disused railroad infrastructure and now a 1.5 mile-long public park. The studio is currently engaged in two &nbsp;other projects in New York: The Shed, a cultural space that physically transforms to support artists&rsquo; most ambitious ideas; and the renovation and expansion of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).Recent projects include the 35-acre Zaryadye Park in Moscow; the Museum of Image &amp; Sound in Rio de Janeiro; The Broad, a contemporary art museum in Los Angeles; the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive at the University of California, Berkeley; the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center at Columbia University in New York; and the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts at Brown University. Most recently, the studio was also selected to design: Adelaide Contemporary, a new gallery and public sculpture park in South Australia; the London Centre for Music, a permanent home for the London Symphony Orchestra; and a new Collection and Research Centre for the V&amp;A in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Ms. Diller received the first MacArthur Foundation Fellowship awarded in the field of architecture along with her partner Ricardo Scofidio. In 2017, her studio received the Wall Street Journal Magazine&rsquo;s Architecture Innovator of the Year Award and received the 2018 American Federation of the Arts Cultural Leadership Award. She has also featured (twice) in Time magazine&rsquo;s &ldquo;100 Most Influential People&rdquo;. Ms. Diller is also a professor of architecture at Princeton University.

Elizabeth Diller studied at the Cooper Union School of Architecture in New York City.

Edhem Eldem is a professor of history at Boğazi&ccedil;i University (Istanbul) and holds the International Chair of Turkish and Ottoman History at the Coll&egrave;ge de France, where his inaugural lecture was entitled &ldquo;The Ottoman Empire and Turkey facing the West&rdquo;. He has also taught at Berkeley, Harvard, Columbia, EHESS, EPHE, ENS, and was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg, Berlin.&nbsp;He has worked and published on topics such as the Levant trade, funerary epigraphy, the Imperial Ottoman Bank, Orientalism and Westernization, Istanbul at the turn of the twentieth century, and the history of archaeology, museology, and photography in the Ottoman Empire.

Mona Fawaz is Professor in Urban Studies and Planning and the coordinator of graduate programmes in Urban Planning, Policy and Design at the American University of Beirut (AUB). She is also director of the Social Justice and the City research programme at the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy at AUB. The research programme, which focuses on making Lebanon&rsquo;s cities more inclusive, aims to formulate an agenda for research, mobilisation and policy advocacy between scholars, policymakers and activists.Ms. Fawaz&rsquo;s own scholarly interests include methods to make cities more inclusive. Her research spans urban history and historiography, social and spatial justice, informality and the law, property and space, as well as planning practice, theory and pedagogy.

Professor Fawaz was a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Studies at Harvard University and an affiliated fellow in the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies. She served as a member of the Affordable Housing Institute MENA Research Advisory Board and a member of the scientific committee of the Order of Engineers and Architects in Lebanon in 2017/18.

She is the author of over 40 scholarly articles, book sections and reports in Arabic, French and English, and has edited several collections of essays. In addition, Ms. Fawaz is intimately involved in Beirut&rsquo;s ongoing transformations, publishing in the local press and advocating for upgrading informal settlements, protecting the urban commons, improving liveability, adopting inclusive planning standards, and defending the right to the city.

After earning a bachelor of architecture at the American University of Beirut, Professor Fawaz completed a Masters in City Planning and a PhD in City Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kareem Ibrahim is an Egyptian architect and urban researcher who worked on UNDP&rsquo;s Historic Cairo Rehabilitation Project and on the Aga Khan Trust for Culture&rsquo;s Darb al-Ahmar project. The latter project was an ambitious urban revitalisation programme aimed at bringing sustainable improvements in the living conditions of one of Cairo&rsquo;s historic inner- city districts by upgrading housing, public buildings and open spaces and developing the social and economic opportunities in the local community.In 2009, he co-founded Takween Integrated Community Development in Cairo as a social enterprise that adopts an integrated approach in areas &nbsp;&nbsp;of urban conservation, participatory urban development, informal areas&rsquo; upgrading, gender-sensitive urban design, placemaking and policy research, in collaboration with local and international organisations. Mr. Ibrahim is also co-leader of Tadamun: The Cairo Urban Solidarity Initiative (an initiative of Takween and American University in Washington DC) aimed at encouraging citizens to claim their right to the city and its democratic management.

He also worked as a consultant on various projects in the areas of urban conservation and revitalisation, participatory urban development, upgrading of informal areas, gender-sensitive urban design, placemaking and development of urban policies. Partners in these projects include UNESCO, UNHCR, UN Women, UN-Habitat, L&rsquo;Agence Fran&ccedil;aise de D&eacute;veloppement, the European Investment Bank, the German Technical Cooperation, the British Museum and USAID.

Between 2010 and 2017, he worked as Senior Development Manager for one of Cairo&rsquo;s largest real estate development projects. Currently, he is the Director of the &ldquo;Rediscovering Esna&rsquo;s Cultural Heritage Assets&rdquo; Project, which is aimed at revitalising the city centre of one of Upper Egypt&rsquo;s historic cities.

Mr. Ibrahim was trained at the faculty of Engineering of Cairo University.

Ali M. Malkawi is a professor at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. He teaches architectural technology and computation and conducts research in the areas of computational simulation, building performance evaluation, and design decision support. He is founding director of the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities and Co- Area Head Master of Design for Energy and Environments.&nbsp;He was also the founder and director of the T.C. Chan Center for Building Simulation and Energy Studies, a global consortium dedicated to research, new knowledge, analytical tools, processes, simulation techniques, technologies and programmes of continuing education.

He has consulted on a number of large projects, including airports, &ldquo;super&rdquo; towers, industrial factories, and commercial and residential projects. He has provided governments with strategic guidance on building energy-related topics and has led efforts to develop the first performance-based sustainability rating system in the Middle East. He is the lead author or co-author of over 100 scientific papers and of two books on computationally driven design and simulation. Malkawi was recently honoured with the Jordan Star of Science by Jordan&rsquo;s King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein.

Previously he has taught at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Michigan, and the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a professor of architecture and the chairperson of the graduate group in architecture.

Professor Malkawi received his BS in architectural engineering and environmental design from Jordan University of Science and Technology, his MArch from the University of Colorado, and his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in architectural technology/artificial intelligence.

Nondita Correa Mehrotra is an architect working in India and the United States. As principal of RMA Architects, which has offices in Mumbai and Boston, she has been involved in the design of such major international projects as the recently completed Lab of the Future at Novartis&rsquo; Basel Campus. As project architect with Charles Correa Associates, she has worked on a number of projects, including the Isma&iuml;li Centre in Toronto and the Brain and Cognitive Sciences building at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and many projects in India.She worked for over two decades with Charles Correa and became the Director of the Charles Correa Foundation. As Director, she is involved in research, publications and projects focused on the improvement of the built habitat and the debates around architecture and urbanism in India. The Foundation supports a publication series and a biennial international conference. It also works alongside the Government of Goa to identify and select the three Charles Correa Chairs who are then invited to teach at the Goa College of Architecture.

She has also taught core and advance architecture studios at MIT and at the University of Michigan. She was a finalist for the design of the symbol for the Indian Rupee, an idea she initiated, and designed furniture and architectural books. She previously been a technical reviewer for Aga Khan Award for Architecture. In addition, she has curated several exhibitions.

Ms. Correa Mehrotra studied architecture at the University of Michigan and at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University.

Nondita Correa Mehrotra is an architect working in India and the United States.
