The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) Laboratory in Nairobi, Kenya has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The CAP accreditation is a global recognition for the excellence of the services provided by the Hospitals Laboratory. CAP accreditation is one of many for the AKUH. In July 2003, AKUH became the first hospital in East Africa to be awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2000, which conforms fully to standards set for quality management systems. And in 2013, AKUH attained the Joint Commission International accreditation, affirming the hospital's commitment to achieve its vision as the leading teaching and tertiary healthcare institution in sub-Saharan Africa.
