Established in 1973, AKF UK forms strategic partnerships, mobilises resources for AKDN development initiatives and raises awareness about key global development issues shaping the world today. With the support of our institutional partners, and through the generosity of the Ismaili community and other individuals, we have raised hundreds of millions of pounds to help improve the quality of life for millions of people.

AKF UK has established lasting and productive partnerships with a variety of European and Asian governments and their agencies, multilateral development institutions, corporations, trusts and foundations.
These include partnerships with the governments of the UK, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Japan; multilateral organisations such as the Asian Development Bank, the European Commission, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Programme; and corporations, trusts and foundations such as Comic Relief, Dubai Cares, Ikea Foundation, Johnson & Johnson Foundation, Lego Foundation and Porticus Foundation.
AKF UK is also a learning institution for programme enhancement, policy dialogue, education and disseminating best practices in international development. From our home at the Aga Khan Centre in London, AKF UK hosts events and talks contributing to the dialogue on global development issues.
AKF UK also runs a number of public-facing fundraising initiatives, including a Walk and Run. Since the first Walk and Run in 1983, tens of thousands of people have participated. They have raised millions of pounds for activities ranging from health and education to post-disaster housing reconstruction and climate change adaptation.
