The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a leading global development organisation working to tackle the root causes of poverty.
Headquartered in Ottawa, Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) was established in 1980 as a permanent presence for the Foundation in Canada. A registered Canadian charity, AKFC partners with the Government of Canada and diverse Canadian institutions and individuals on priorities of common interest.
Programmes supported by AKFC and its partners have reached millions in Africa and Asia, working through AKDN and AKF’s global footprint to build a future where we all thrive together.
In Canada, we undertake a range of initiatives to engage and inform Canadians about global development; channel skills and expertise to support our programmes overseas; and promote learning and knowledge exchange within Canada's development sector.
Canadians can participate through a variety of channels, including exhibitions, conferences, youth workshops and seminars – and through work and volunteer opportunities in Canada and overseas. Many of these activities draw on the global expertise of other AKDN agencies and are undertaken with financial support from the Government of Canada and in partnership with Canadian academic and civil society organisations.
Thanks to thousands of committed volunteers and supporters across the country, AKFC raises millions of dollars every year. Learn more and support AKFC through the World Partnership Walk and World Partnership Golf campaigns.
